Spouting Horn and Kokee State Park

On the south shore of Kauai we visited Spouting Horn blowhole. Waves are forced under the lava shelf and spew through a hole in the shelf. Way cool! I could have watched it forever.

We also drove up through Waimea Canyon to Kokee State Park. We attempted to hike the Pihea Trail in hopes of seeing some unique birds. The birds and the view evaded us on this day. The clouds rolled in quickly after we started so we couldn’t see much and we could hear the birds but the canopy is so thick it was hard to see them. And the trail also basically kicked our butts. We are old but in our defense it was one tough trail!
